Jen Allan ~ Veterinary Technician
I grew up watching my aunt work at the zoo and then go on to become a veterinarian. Her passion became my passion and I knew that I, too, wanted to work with animals! I started out volunteering at the local animal emergency hospital in high school and then worked my way up to head veterinary technician at a day practice. I have been working in the veterinary field for over 20 years now. Oh my, how time flies when you're doing something you love! I joined Byron Center Animal Hospital in October 2016 and am excited about the prospect of learning new things and getting to know lots of new clients and their furry family members! When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family (including my adorable nieces!) and friends up north at our family cottage, fishing, going on pontoon rides, and must relaxing around the campfire. I have been blessed with many cats over the years who have since passed on. I currently have a wonderful Pekingese named Sam, who is 14 years old, and he is the love of my life! My family, both two legged and four, is everything to me and I wouldn't change a thing!
Jonelle Cooper ~ Receptionist
I became a team member at Byron Center Animal Hospital in November 2015. I have been working in the veterinary field for almost 15 years! I enjoy working with our pet owners and strive to treat every pet as if they were my very own!
I have three cats - Augustus, Corbin, and Norton – and they graciously allow me and my other two furry family members - Camille, a Maltese mix, and Noah, a Shih-tzu mix – to share a home with them. We’re quite a mix!
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends while camping or sightseeing in Northern Michigan, attending Grand Rapids Griffin’s hockey games, or socializing my pups at the Wyoming Dog Park. I also volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Hand2Hand backpack ministry, organizing and packing food for them. You may also find me at various other dog or cat benefit events throughout the year, so be sure and say hi if you see me!

Natalie Weaver ~ Licensed Veterinary Technician
I have been working at the Byron Center Animal Hospital since 2007 after I graduated from Baker College and became an LVT. I love the opportunity to work with great pets and their wonderful people. After having a pet myself that was very anxious at the vet, I strive to figure out what would be best for each individual pet and owner, to help make the vet a more rewarding place. Daily, I see first-hand the effect that pets have on our lives and how important the human-animal bond is to both sides of the relationship and my hope is to prolong these ties. Also, it is nice to work in a field that is continually growing and advancing. I am blessed with my rescue dog Kinley, who is a boxer mix and full of energy! My favorite thing about her is that she is always happy to be with people and participate in whatever I am doing, whether that is going for a run or taking a nap!
Emily DeHaan ~ Licensed Veterinary Technician
Growing up, I always had a passion for science as well as animals. Since graduating in 2012 with a degree and license in veterinary technology, I have had the wonderful opportunity to combine my passions and skills to care for furry family members! I love learning about how each family’s pet fits into their lives and hearing their stories. I enjoy educating and encouraging the pet-loving community and creating lasting relationships with families as their pets grow older. I have experience in general practice, emergency medicine, and oncology and love that my job allows me to learn new things and meet new people every day. I married my sweet husband in July 2016! We are looking forward to purchasing our first home so that we can adopt a pet (or two) of our own! We are both from the West Michigan area and enjoy spending time on the beautiful beaches soaking up the sun. When I am not caring for your pets, I enjoy exploring nature through running, biking, or hiking, reading, cooking something new, or catching up with family and friends. Once a week, I mentor a student at Stocking Elementary through Kids Hope USA; this is my third year meeting with my student and it’s super fun to watch her grow and learn each week!
Veterinary Technician and Office Manager
Like many children, I grew up with a family dog and a smattering of gerbils, which were eventually replaced by furrier hamsters. During college, my companion was a pet rat named Alice, since she was the best fit for a college lifestyle-on-the-go. After years of traveling and working in various places, I settled down and was finally able to get my own puppy! Happiness! Guinea pigs, mice and an aquarium of fish soon joined my crew. As you can see, my life was not complete without animals! This proved even more true when I started volunteering and then working in veterinary clinics. I had found my true passion! I love the opportunity to build relationships with our clients here at BCAH and enjoy getting to know the families and pets that come in to see us! Now, though the guinea pigs, mice, fish, and husky "puppy" have passed on, I've added a husband and his pit bull, and also a family of entertaining little bunnies! They are all my family and I do love them so!
